The internet has turned the consumer world on its head. Visits to the high street and shopping mall have been replaced by clicks on the screen from the comfort of your own home. While the internet has ushered in a virtual nirvana for most consumers, there is one area which continues to seem to be entirely immune to the consumer benefits that advances in technology that the web offers.
That area is translation services which to the casual observer seems to have neither benefited from the speed increases or the cost reductions that the integration of web technology should offer. However, things are slowly begining to change. These now span many languages and the translation heuristics being used suggest that one day computing power may be able to provide a translation comparable with a human one.
On the other side, customers are finally starting to see innovation in the field of human translations with the advent of services such as quick translations, one hour translations and instant translate. These new wave translation services offer quick translation turn around times at reasonable prices.
With all this innovation in the translation field, the future for translators and their customers will definately provide an interesting insight into the future of human communication generally. Watch this space!
